I
was recently hired to support two VPs in the marketing team and was told a
second assistant would be hired soon. It is obviously time to do so. I am
completely overworked and being pulled in half, but I love working for both VPs.
I don't know how to approach them about hiring another assistant and how will I
choose what VP I want to support exclusively without hurting feelings.

Tell them so. You want to continue working for your two bosses. Tell them you want to be cloned. Why is it not possible for you to have an assistant, better seen as an associate, who like you works for two bosses? Then you would have a four member team-- two bosses and two assistants. A three- person huddle now to consider this idea or its alternatives seems called for.
